James Monroe Števko

James_StevkoJames Monroe Števko , a New York City based actor and dancer, originated the role of Mendl in the off-Broadway hit “Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish”, directed by Tony, Oscar and Golden Globe winner, Joel Grey.

He started dancing at the age of 18, while studying music education at Northern Illinois University. He went on to dance with: Milwaukee Ballet, The Radio City Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes, The Metropolitan Opera and seven seasons at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

James pushes his students just enough so they can realize what they are capable of increasing their confidence step by step. His classes have repeatedly been called the “funnest ballet class” they have ever taken since he began at Ballet and Body.

He has been featured in Dance Teacher Magazine and Dance Informa and is a soloist on the off-Broadway Original Cast Album of “Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish” by Grammy nominated producer, Time Life/Warner Bros.
